The day I decided to plant some vegies...

Lazy summer Sundays

Well greetings fellow bloggers and happy new year!!

Goodness it has been a while since I last blogged and I do sincerly apologise. Well this weekend was the first one I have had off in a long time, as in I didnt have appointments or other work commitments to attend to. It was nice to sleep in a wake up to the normal body clock rather than artifical alarm waking systems.... anyways as a sunday, i thought why not plant a vege garden. It was a gorgeous sunny day, despite all the rain and flooding we have had of recent. I took my sister to the local nursery to choose some plants, and we did adopt a 'homeless' pumpkin plant too! We chose capsicums, zuccini, cucumbers and my favourite of the month... the eggplant.
Speaking of new years, how are people going with their new years resolutions!!??? well for me, i'm planning of writing a journal for the year, so far ive missed a few days but have tried to catch up on the important bits on the other days.
I have also been reading a really interesting book called 'sweet poison' www.sweetpoison.com.au something that i am trying to change about my diet... eating less sugars and refined foods.... it is not always easy....
anyways hope to hear from you soon!

Wintery wonderland

Firstly I would like to apologise for my lack of concordance with the blogging world, I'm very sorry. Whilst I haven't entirely been depleted of the internet, I have been trying to focus on study catch up.

Earlier in the winter season, I decided to pack the old toboggen and hit the slopes for a few days!
It was the most magnificant weather, despite the lack of snow...
It was just so remarkable seeing the mountains surrounding you, with the smell of crisp, fresh air! It made me realise how much I missed hot steamy chips and mulled wine!

Other than the snow trip, back home, winter has meant early nights, cold starts, hot water bottles, hot tea and copious layers of wool!- home comfort!

Not many weeks left of winter now... and then we start to hear the birdies chirping and the sun welcoming the day!

However now, it is a time to catch up on my studies, plan dates with friends and soak up the last memories of winter 2010.

Anti who....Antioxidants

As I sit down to munch on my green, crisp, granny smith apple, I become distracted and start researching this 'power fruit'.

I came across a document, titled 'Apple review 2009', written by Karen Kinghman.
It is a study that has looked at all the reviews of eating 'an apple a day'. According to the evidence, it suggests that this power fruit can decrease the risk of obtaining breast, lung and colon cancer. Not only can it reduce cancer, but it has been shown to reduce cardiovascular disease (which is our number one death sentence in Australia). An apple can even prevent asthma... and if your mum ate apples whilst she was pregnant, you too have a lesser chance of been diagnosed with asthma.
Apples have been shown to reduce the risk of diabetes and aiding weight loss, this is due to the low glycaemic index of the fruit.. and people are less likely to over indulge on a meal, as the energy is dispersed more evenly.

Now coming into the wintery months, we need to make sure we keep ourselves healthy and our immune system strong. Apples have been shown to improve immune function and fight out the common flu.
Well there you have it bloggers! All these benefits in just an apple a day!

How many of you, would say that you have an apple a day?

According to this document, only 43% of Australians eat 1 apple a week... we really need to get this information out there, so many of these potential health problems can be reduced.

Well my apple is finished now. And I guess it is a sign for me to get on with some other work..

Take care

The last of the Autumn sun

The days are cooler, and the dark nights have set in.

I thought I would take this opportunity today (as the first day of Winter), to step out into the wilderness, and snap a few of the gorgeous leaves, before we all hibernate in our caves.

Although initially I was rather dissappointed as the leaves I intended to photograph were already sucked up by the evil street cleaners (FROWN).
I have, however claimed to snap the last of these leaves, and I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I enjoyed snapping them all!

All this talk of a new season, made me ponder the idea of what I look forward to most about Winter.
1. I must say the atmosphere and the heat of open fires. Toasting marshmallows, and hearing the wood burst and burn away.
2. Hot soups
3. Being tucked in a warm bed, when you can hear the rain on the roof
4. Fog in the morning
5. Hot water bottles
6. Exploring new tea flavours
7. Walking the dog with copious layers of clothing
8. Early nights to bed
9. Snow, building snowmen with two carrot noses.
10. Flanny PJ's (check out the latest peter alexander winter sleep wear range)
What do you enjoy about Winter?
Take care, Until tommorow

My Collectivities

It has been over a year, and i've been working on my wall. Not my facebook wall (well that as well), but a plain, whitle old wall in my house. It has now become a wall dedicated to little things I collect and am inspired to. It has become a bit of a timeline for me. I have bits of newspaper clippings, postcards, leaves (from last autumn), advertisments, lolly wrappers, matchsticks, cut out hearts (Taylor swift concert), drink coasters and a fair bit more.

I am one of those people, who collect such odd, but wonderful bits and pieces.
(I must say I have a collection of film tickets from 4 years back -see above).

Does anybody else collect strange things? Or have a journal where they stick things in?

I have a friend, who buys a journal every year, she carries it everywhere with her. It is her emotional and creative outlet. She pastes all sorts of events that she attends, to bits of sand or rock that she found interesting.

I'm am glad that i'm not the only one to find such joy in these pieces.
Love to all facets of life.

Lend a Helping Hand

Evening Blogger world!

Just thought I should establish a personal blog for all of you gorgeous people out in this virtual world.

It is something I have been meaning to do for such a long time (to write a blog), and after seeing all the other beautiful, creative and inspirational pages of wisdom and motivation I finally chose to deliver this blog of mine.

One thing I know for sure about blogs, is that it is difficult to determine your initial audience, as well as trying to establish, and write this initial (numero 1) blog. I believe the only true way to start a blog is to be yourself and to have a creative outlet to discover and play with!

I hope others can share my fun and creation with me!

I wish you all a happy and successful day ahead, in what ever your days has to offer!

To all those out there who have a stressful day ahead of you, take a deep breath, feel confident and believe in yourself (I know i'll need these wise words in a few days time).

Life is what we make of it!
Do the world a favour and lend someone a hand today, small changes is all it takes!
Let me know how you have helped someone today?
Was it helping a person up from their fall?? Picking up rubbish off the street? or Helping a young child cross the road?
Let your caring nature take charge!

Hope to hear from you all again!

Just Moi
